This README.txt file is intended to aid in the installation of OMNIDEX on all platforms.  It should be read before beginning the install, as it is a valuable guide to the appropriate directory and setup information required to quickly and accurately install OMNIDEX software on your system.

This CD/FTP server contains the following directories:
1.  AIX_Server
2.  Documentation
3.  HPUX_Server
4.  Linux_Server
5.  Sun_Server
6.  Windows

Documentation Directory
********************
The Documentation directory is a good resource for all OMNIDEX documentation.  Included in this directory is a html directory, which is the current OMNIDEX documentation in a web based html format.  The Omnidex on-line documentation is provided to assist in the design, development, and maintenance of Omnidex enhanced databases. To view the Omnidex on-line documentation just point your favorite browser to http:\\Documentation\html\index.htm.  

There are also several Acrobat pdf files which will require Adobe's Acrobat reader.  This can be downloaded and installed free of charge from www.adobe.com.   Alternatively, for your convenience, an executable for version 6.0 of Acrobat Reader, Acrobat 6.0.EXE, is included in the Documentation directory for immediate installation.  These files are the server install guides for the platforms on which Omnidex is supported:  Windows 2k/XP/2k3, SunOS, HP-UX, IBM AIX, and Linux. These PDF files are located in their perspective server directories.

Windows Directory

The Windows directory is a combined installation of both Windows client and/or server software.  It is only necessary to run the SETUP.exe file.

UNIX Directories:
        AIX_Server
        HPUX_Server
        Sun_Server
        Linux_Server

The UNIX directories contains tar files that need to be ftp'd with a binary transfer to the Omnidex Home directory on the appropriate host, and untar'd.  There is only one tar FILE needed per server.  Please read the HOW2FTP2UNIX.txt file located in each of the UNIX directories
