As of Omnidex versions 5.1, DISC recommends that new Omnidex Environment files are maintained using the Omnidex Data Definition Lanaguage (DDL) using OdxSQL. However the old style syntax of compiled Omnidex Environment files are supported.

• When using Omnidex DDL Environments, DBINSTAL can no longer be run directly or it will invalidate the installation. So if features in DBINSTAL that are not supported in the DDL are required, then Omnidex compiled environments should continue to be used.

• Some syntax such as UNION VIEWS that are not supported in the Omnidex DDL. If those features are needed, then Omnidex compiled environments should continue to be used.

Limitations:

• DBINSTAL Batch Index option not supported.
• DBINSTAL SIID option not supported.

To simplify OdxSQL, several previous commands are no longer supported.
