Creating an Omnidex Grid

Omnidex Grids are straightforward to create. Each grid node is a separate Omnidex environment, with an environment file, indexes and data. For convenience, there are methods to share a single Omnidex environment file across multiple nodes. There are also methods to share data files across multiple nodes.

Determining a Distribution Plan

Once the database is partitioned into grid nodes, the nodes must be distributed to grid servers. Some Omnidex Grids reside on a single server, such as a large, multi-core machine with a RAID array or a SAN. Other Omnidex Grids are distributed to multiple servers, each of which can have their own multi-core processors and independent d…

----------

Overview

Omnidex Grids are a feature of the Omnidex product line that allow large databases to be distributed across multiple processors or servers. This improves performance by allowing a query to be processed on the fewest nodes possible using multiple concurrent processors. This approach allows great scalability and provides convenient mechanisms for adding new …

Omnidex Grids

Overview | Partitioning Scheme | Distribution Plan | Grid Creation

----------

Determining a Partitioning Scheme

Omnidex Grids provide high performance by allowing a large database to be partitioned into a set of smaller databases called grid nodes. One distinct advantage of this is that some queries can be resolved to a smaller subset of nodes. When Omnidex optimizes a query, it may be able to determine that the query can be resolved by acces…
