Microsoft Windows Installation Guide

1. Remove any previous installations of Omnidex

If a previous version of Omnidex has been installed, please remove this version of the software before proceeding.

Note that if you have installed Omnidex on databases, it is not necessary to remove the Omnidex indexes on those databases before installing a new version of Omnidex. The existing indexes may be able to be reused.

2. Downloading the software

Download the software from the Downloads tab in this documentation. Be sure to choose correctly between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the software.

3. Extract the software from the downloaded ZIP file

The downloaded software is in ZIP format. Use Windows Explorer or one of the many ZIP utilities to extract the software from the ZIP file.

Run the file “Setup.exe” located in the unzipped software. This will run the Omnidex Installation Wizard to install Omnidex on your computer. The wizard will take you through the following steps:

After running Setup.exe, you will see the following welcome screen:

Click Next to proceed to the next screen.

Step 2

The next screen allows you to choose the directory for installing Omnidex. By default, Omnidex is installed in C:\Program Files\Omnidex 5.1; however, it can be installed in another directory if desired.

Step 3

The next screen allows you to choose the folder within the Start Menu for installing Omnidex. By default, Omnidex is installed in the Omnidex 5.1 folder; however, it can be installed in another folder if desired.

Omnidex will proceed to install the Omnidex software. During this phase of the installation, you may see additional screens pop up showing the installation of additional components, such as Microsoft Redistributable Libraries.

Step 5

Once Omnidex is installed, the Omnidex Installation Wizard will automatically launch the Omnidex Licensing Wizard. This wizard will allow you to license the software. If you are installing Omnidex as a trial, then default trial license codes are provided. If you are installing a permanent copy of Omnidex, you will need to contact Technical Support for a license code. Alternatively, you can check the box to skip the Omnidex Registration page and request a license code at a future date.
