Step 1: Create the Software Environment

Before You BeginRestore the Software

 

To add the user omnidex and to restore the Omnidex software, you must log in as the root user. Obtain the password for the root user if you do not already know it, and enter it at the password prompt.

login: root
Password:password

1. Start Administration Tool from an OpenWindows window by typing admintool & from a Command or Shell Tool prompt.

$ admintool &

When testing or setting up Omnidex software, you must log in as the user omnidex. The Omnidex software is configured to look for the user omnidex and to use the korn shell from the path /bin/ksh.

2. Click the User Account Manager icon and choose the naming service appropriate for your site (NIS+, NIS or None). Click Apply.

3. Select Add User from the Edit menu to display the Add User window.

In the User Name field, type omnidex.

In the User ID field, type a decimal number to identify the user.

From the Shell pull-down menu, choose Korn shell.

Click Password. Choose Normal Password from the pull-down menu. Enter omnidex as the password.

Click Create Home Directory and use the Path and Server fields to specify omnidex as the directory to create.

4. Complete any other fields appropriate to your site, then click Add.

5. Exit Administration Tool.
