Step 2: Restore the Software

Create the Software EnvironmentBuild the Omnidex Executables

 

The Omnidex software is stored in the standard tar format. To restore it to your Sun Solaris machine, use tar, as discussed below.

1. Load the tape into the appropriate tape drive device.

2. Login as the user omnidex:

login: omnidex
Password:omnidex

3. To begin installing the Omnidex software, invoke tar, specifying the location of the Omnidex installation tape.

tar -xvf tapedevice

For example:

tar -xvf /dev/rmt/0l

4. Tar displays the file names as it restores them. After it completes the installation, it displays the system prompt.
