The OMNIDEX Server Setup Guide describes how to:

• Create the user, group and directory for the Omnidex software.
• Restore the software.
• Build the Omnidex executable utilities.
• License the software.
• Update from a previous version

The software requires about 100,000 to 200,000 blocks of storage space on your system.

Documentation Conventions

Generic values are printed in italics. For example, in path/file, path could represent any path, and file could represent any file. Also note that the term “enter” means to type a value and press the [Return] or [Enter] key.

Supported Data Management Platforms

Omnidex is supported on the following data management platforms:

• Oracle version 8.0, 8.1 and 9i
• INFORMIX, versions 7.2, 7.3 and 9.2
• POSIX flat files
