Omnidex Standalone Tables may also be paired with an Offset Index. An Offset Index records the offset for each row in a file, and is useful when there is compressed or variable-length records in a file. If the option COMPRESSION=OFF is used when the Omnidex Standalone Table is created, no Offset Index will be created as it is not needed.

Offset Indexes for Omnidex Standalone Tables are generated automatically, in contrast to delimited files. No action is needed by the administrator to manage or maintain these files.
