Omnidex 4.1 (May 2004)

Omnidex Text

Omnidex 4.1 introduces Omnidex Text, a new module designed to support advanced text searches. Since its inception, Omnidex was able to parse and index individual keywords within a column. Omnidex Text goes beyond simple keyword indexing and allows searching for thesaurus synonyms, custom synonyms, misspellings, transpositions, phonetic equivalents, plurals, verb conjugations and other word forms. Omnidex Text also supports proximity searches using NEAR, BEFORE and AFTER operators, as well as phrase searches. Large blocks of text can be scored for their relevancy, and can be excerpted to show the relevant sections of the text that contains search terms.

Result Set Sampling

Omnidex 4.1 provides a new capability called Result Set Sampling, which uses the SAMPLE clause of the SELECT statement to limit the output of a query to one row per group, such as one individual per household.

Performance Improvements in Sort Services

Omnidex 4.1 improves the performance of the sort services, especially when sorting very large result sets. This enhancement also enables sort/merge joins between tables.

Logging and Query Plan Enhancements

In Omnidex 4.1, Omnidex administrators gained the ability to perform SQL Logging, as well as view query plans through system tables.
